IT Department Focuses on Services
Department works toward accomplishing the goals set in the 2014-2015 Innovation Plan
TRAVERSE CITY (Mar. 30, 2015)—The IT Department at VP Demand Creation Services (VP-DCS) will focus its efforts on services throughout 2015. The objective was set last summer during the company’s annually hosted Focus Group for foodservice executives in Traverse City. “We received very good direction for this coming year [2014-2015].’” says Andy LePere, IT Director. “In past years it’s been all about mobile or data integration.”
The Focus Group offers marketing executives the opportunity to connect directly with the VP-DCS team – and each other – to review the previous year’s accomplishments and set the direction for the coming year based on their needs. “Based on the clients’ direction, we do everything we can to meet these needs. It’s been very successful!” says LePere.
After the Focus Group, the VP-DCS team created an Innovation Plan summing up the initiatives and assigning these “targets” to the calendar four quarters. Some spread over more than one quarter. The Plan is then discussed with each client individually, face-to-face preferably.
In the last quarter of 2014, the IT team concentrated its efforts on several projects including a broker directory service to manage broker information, lead ranking in VP’s patent-pending SLIMM system to allow sales team to prioritize and rank their sales leads, and CPOS enhancements. “Data integration has been a pain point. We work to minimize it and add value for the client,” explains LePere on his team’s approach. On the docket for the first two quarters of 2015: Enhance the business intelligence tool Naveego, a new CPOS interface including a mobile app (VP Sales Tool), and capturing user information on CPOS sites.
“We proactively help them with promoting what they do and executing their marketing plans,” explains LePere. That’s why the Innovation Plan’s theme in 2014-2015 is “services” – everything VP-DCS accomplishes for its clients helps to create demand for their products or services.
