5 Easy Marketing Resolutions to Crush in 2019
It’s a new year, which means there is a fresh slate for achieving your marketing goals. Digital marketing is required; print is making its comeback; and, your brand’s identity is as important as ever.
So, how do ensure your goals are checked off come next December? This year, consider the following resolutions to give your marketing a boost.
Understand your target market
When was the last time you took a moment to understand your buyer? With all the to-do lists everyday work requires, chances are, it’s been awhile. Spend time going back to the drawing board and mapping out your buyer’s journey. What are their wants and needs? How does your product bring them value? If you understand your target market, then you can develop a marketing strategy that will better reach and engage them.
Focus on lead generation
As marketing professionals, we spend the majority of our time working to create content that turns prospects into leads. Whether it’s through websites, social media, or blogs, focus on creating a more compelling call to action that captures the information you need to convert your prospects. Spend some time drawing out the actions you want a user to take that will eventually lead the user to take an action, such as clicking on a landing page or downloading a guide.
Don’t miss out on digital marketing
Digital marketing is the marketing of products and services using digital technologies – the internet, mobile phones, social media, digital advertisements, blogs, websites, etc. If you haven’t invested your time into establishing a digital presence, you may want to re-evaluate your strategies. Digital marketing is becoming a crucial part of the marketing mix and should not go ignored. There are hundreds of resources and tools online to help you get started – use them!
Leverage direct mail
Believe it or not, direct mail delivers results. Based on research completed by the Direct Marketing Association, direct mail has been proven to be over seven times more effective than all other digital channels combined! If you research anything regarding mail, you’ll find that consumers are always excited to receive it. Combine that with a creative value proposition and your message is surely to be heard!
Actionable metrics
We’ve all heard of SMART goals, but have we all actually “lived” by them? When establishing your metrics for the upcoming year, be realistic – you want them to be attainable, yet challenge you, too. Establish the metrics that are important to your business, determine a format and frequency in which you’ll track them, and report your metrics to your team regularly. Spend time determining what works for your organization and what you may consider altering in the future. Marketing is all about strategic experiments – don’t be deterred if you don’t hit your goals the first time around. It just means you may need to look at things differently.
While these are just a few important marketing resolutions to consider, you might add these to your business strategy in 2019, too:
- Become a thought leader in your industry. You’re the expert, so share that knowledge with your buyers.
- Be more creative. Redesign your calls to action, design, how you set up your website, and how you communicate with your customers. Try thinking outside the box.
- Engage with your followers on social media. It’s one thing to be present on social media, but it’s another to be responding to their comments and messages in a timely manner. Listen to what people are saying about your brand – good and bad. Results can’t happen without action.
